Why Should Your Business Consider Solar Energy?

Explore the benefits and incentives of adopting solar energy for your business.

FINANCIAL INCENTIVES

USDA Rural Energy for America Program (“REAP”) Grants can cover 50% of the cost to install solar. To qualify, a business must be located outside of an urban area (UGB of 50,000 plus) or be an agricultural producer in any location.

TAX INCENTIVES

30% Tax Credits are a direct offset against Federal taxes. If you have more Credits than taxes due, carry the excess forward for up to 22 years to use in the future. You can also sell or transfer the Credits. Solar can be depreciated over a five year term or expensed under a Section 179 election. Solar is also exempt from sales and property taxes in most jurisdictions.

BETTER TECHNOLOGY / LOWER PRICES

Panels are at least 25% more efficient than 10 years ago. Many panels carry a 30 year warranty and can produce for 40 years or more, providing a long term energy solution. The typical installed price has dropped by 60% over the last decade, making solar a more affordable option.

REDUCING FUTURE OPERATING COSTS

Every dollar invested in solar can save $25 or more from future power bills. Over the last three years, many utilities in the Northwest have raised their rates by well over 30%. Generating your own power reduces the risk of further rate increases.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Implementing onsite solar can significantly reduce your carbon footprint, contributing positively to the environment and enhancing your company’ public image.
